• Awe, Wonder & Scientific Inquiry: Hands-on practical science challenges pupils to think like real scientists—from engineering air-powered rockets to dissecting animal hearts. The immersive inflatable planetarium visit brings space to life, inspiring wonder about our universe.

• Physical Health & Sport: Specialist Judo taster sessions and energetic fitness circuit workshops instill a genuine love for exercise, encouraging pupils to discover new physical passions and maintain active, healthy lives.

• Literacy & Creative Voice: Visiting authors and poets share their love of language, inspiring children to master expressive techniques and craft their own original compositions.

• Real-World Fieldwork: Working alongside a professional geographer, pupils master practical map-reading and fieldwork skills by designing detailed maps of our school environment.

Delight Projects: Elevating the Creative Arts

In partnership with the social impact charity Delight, we deliver immersive arts opportunities that build pupils' self-confidence, communication skills, and emotional resilience. This tailored partnership directly impacts pupils by enriching our curriculum, extending pupils' cultural capital, and guaranteeing equality of opportunity so every child—regardless of background—can flourish creatively.

High-Quality Arts Experiences

Our ongoing collaboration with Delight brings professional artists, dancers, and theatre companies directly into our school, giving pupils sustained, hands-on experience in creative disciplines:

• Delight in Art: Children work alongside a professional visual artist to explore new techniques and create original artwork, culminating in a curated gallery exhibition shared with parents and the wider school community.

• Delight in Dance: Pupils collaborate with a professional dancer to choreograph and perform an expressive dance piece. In a previous project, Year 4 explored themes of good versus evil through dynamic "Superheroes and Villains" routines.

• Delight in Drama: Key Stage 2 pupils experience live, high-caliber theatre through a visiting performance by the Guildford Shakespeare Company, who performed Macbeth. Year 5 then embark on an intensive, term-long drama project, exploring complex literature and performing the play for their peers and parents.

Our Current Offer

We continue to expand this ambitious program across the key stages to ensure progressive access to the arts throughout a child's school journey:

• Reception — Delight in Dance: Introducing our youngest learners to physical expression, rhythm, and spatial awareness through movement.

• Year 3 — Delight in Art: Developing fine motor skills, visual literacy, and self-expression through hands-on artistic creation.

• Year 5 — Delight in Drama: Deepening literary understanding, stagecraft, and public speaking through sustained theatrical study and live performance.

By removing financial and social barriers to the creative arts, these projects ensure every pupil develops the confidence, poise, and artistic literacy needed to express themselves with pride.

Adopt a School: Culinary Arts & Fundamental Life Skills

Cooking and nutrition are essential components of physical wellbeing, independence, and personal responsibility. Aligned with our focus on promoting healthy lifestyles and equipping pupils with practical skills for adult life, we partner with the Royal School of Culinary Arts through their acclaimed Adopt a School programme.

Mastering Essential Life Skills

We believe that learning to cook is a fundamental life skill that every child should master. Through a structured six-week course led by a visiting professional chef, an entire year group gets hands-on experience in the kitchen, gaining the confidence and knowledge to make healthy, informed food choices:

• Taste Buds & Provenance: Discovering how our taste buds work, identifying different flavour profiles, and exploring where our food comes from and how it is grown.

• Knife Safety & Chopping: Learning essential kitchen safety and mastering age-appropriate, safe chopping techniques for fresh ingredients.

• Bread Making: Experiencing the science and craft of baking by mixing, kneading, and shaping their own fresh bread.

• Nutritious Sauces: Learning to prepare a simple, fresh sauce from scratch, providing a foundation for healthy home cooking.

• Table Setting & 'Front of House': Developing social etiquette and practical hospitality skills by learning how to set a table properly and serve food with pride.

To make this hands-on learning even more memorable, every child receives their very own professional chef’s hat to wear throughout the programme!
