Looking After Our Environment
At our school, environmental responsibility is a core pillar of our Personal Development provision. We have a focus on developing responsible, active citizens, empowering our pupils to make a meaningful, positive impact on the world around them.
Student Leadership & Eco-Excellence
Pupil voice drives our green agenda, giving children real agency in shaping a sustainable future:
-
Active Eco Club: Representatives from across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 dedicate an hour each week to leading projects that enhance our school grounds, boost local biodiversity, and lower our carbon footprint.
-
Green Flag Award with Distinction: Our long-term commitment to environmental education is nationally recognised. We are proud to have earned the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction for three consecutive years.
Community Action & Sustainable Living
We extend our eco-initiatives beyond the school gates to support both our local area and our school families:
-
Council Recycling Initiatives: In partnership with the local council, our pupils lead community recycling drives, putting waste reduction into real-world practice.
-
Pre-Loved Swap Scheme: We run a community donation and exchange initiative for school uniforms, Halloween costumes, and Christmas jumpers. This circular model reduces textile waste while offering practical support to families with the cost of living.
Everyday Stewardship & Celebration
Sustainability is embedded into everyday school culture through practical action and targeted awareness:
-
Weekly Class Litter Picking: Every class takes an active turn maintaining our grounds, building a sense of pride, responsibility, and civic duty.
-
BET Green Week: Each year, our school takes a leading role in BET Green Week. With a new eco-themed activity every day, we engage pupils, staff, and the wider community in fresh conversations about protecting our planet.
Through these rich experiences, our pupils develop the knowledge, values, and leadership skills needed to serve as lifelong champions for the environment.
